BADGE CONSTRUCTIONS EYES GROWTH WITH EVANS HARCH PURCHASE

National commercial construction specialist Badge Constructions has purchased Sunshine Coast construction firm Evans Harch as part of its expansion strategy to better position itself in the current Queensland construction market.

Evans Harch will retain its name under the Badge Group of Companies, as a well-known Queensland commercial construction company which will bolster Badge’s footprint by giving it additional staff, geographic spread and turnover.

Badge Managing Director Jim Whiting said the multi-million dollar Evans Harch purchase strengthens current operations in the Sunshine State and allows Evans Harch to continue to work in the Sunshine Coast region, as it has done for decades.

“Since our first project in Queensland some 25 years ago, our growth strategy has always been to expand the size and scale of our operations to take on more work, and work of a larger scale,” Mr Whiting said.

“Evans Harch was chosen because of its experience throughout the growth corridor of South East Queensland and its competitive edge against other players to take on challenging jobs and deliver.

“With our acquisition of Evans Harch, Badge will go from 200 staff to 300, and boost our turnover from $350m to $500m annually.

“Our aim is to keep it as business as usual for both companies, provide security to employees and begin to grow our reach in the Queensland market.”

Evans Harch Founder and Managing Director Trevor Harch said the acquisition was a good move for Badge, Evans Harch and the local Sunshine Coast economy.

“With a contracting construction sector, being part of a larger, national company helps when it comes to pitching for work and getting the work done with the best outcomes for the client,” Mr Harch said.

“Evans Harch has always played a key role in local construction, whether it’s the University of the Sunshine Coast, or multiple commercial projects scattered throughout the Sunshine Coast region.

“I look forward to working on the Advisory Board to help achieve a smooth transition for employees and clients alike.”

Founded in 1977 by Patrick Evans and Trevor Harch, Evans Harch is one of the largest privately owned construction companies in Queensland. Along with Badge, the acquisition brings a combined total of over 50 years experience in the construction industry.
